I grew up in a house surrounded by film and in my undergraduate years I started to pursue film in a professional arena. I teamed up with old classmates and went to LA for a summer. Together we created a feature-length film from the ground up – working together, keeping on budget, within our time line, and seeing to every obstacle thrown in our path. After hard work, we helped found the New Artists Alliance and successfully got our film, Breathing Room, internationally distributed. Film making is a collaborative effort at its finest and a medium I find extremely rewarding to work within. A few years later we wound team up again to film and produce Family of Four.

For my master’s final project at Swinburne University I acted as the group’s Project Manager along with editing and packaging two promotional videos for Team Swinburne Formula SAE. My team of four took on an extremely ambitious project but the final product was so well received I was approached by Swinburne University Marketing to recreate the videos across disciplines. However, I would have to pass them onto my Australian classmates.

The Formula SAE videos documented two groups of engineering students as they built Formula 1 style race cars for international competition. Planning began with hand drawn storyboards and location research. The footage was filmed on Sony Mini-DV cameras and was combined with still-image timelapse clips. Both videos were edited in Adobe Premiere CS5 with audio tweaks done with the freeware, Reaper. The final product was prepared both for online viewing at Team Swinburne and as hard-copy DVDs complete with professionally printed discs and accompanying artwork.

A promotional film produced from start to finish in 18 weeks. The films purpose was to recruit students to the program and help secure sponsors. I served as the Project Manager as well as videographer and editor. This video was made in conjunction with the Team Swinburne SAE Electric video below.
